The Dishes Can Wait

Feeling like I just can't keep up these days, I was so far behind on laundry that Jaxon had no clean pants to wear the other day. The dishes never end, the floor is always dirty, the mail is always in piles to be sorted and filed, there's a blog post to write, headbands to be made... and then today I read this article entitled, "The Dishes Can Wait." It was a short article that a mother wrote about her little daughter that just wanted to be picked up, and she would say 'Mommy can't right now I'm busy' (or something along those lines), but she was busy doing something that would still be there later. How long are we going to have our little babies that we can pick up and that WANT to be? In the grand sceme of things, not that long! It impacted me a lot because I know far more than I would care to admit I have those outstretched arms that I brush off because I'm 'busy', or at this stage of pregnancy- sore and exhausted. I've made a promise to myself that when my babies want to be held, want to be cuddled or just want to play that what I'm doing is most likely not as important as they are and it can wait. I don't want to look back 5 years or 10 years from now wishing I spent more time with them, I really hate having regrets and this will not be one of them.
That being said 1 of my 2 babies is up from a nap, will have to leave my other updates for another day... it's time for some post nap cuddles!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yesterday we got festive for valentine's day, doing some crafts and making cards for those special people in our lives who we love! Most of the cards were WAY too hard for Jaxon to even attempt, so I did it all but then a couple others were just his speed and he LOVED them (probably since I haven't done many crafts with him lately he was so excited!)

We made a card for Uncle Andy since it's his birthday today, I found this idea off pinterest and it was frugal and fun. Using an old toilet paper roll I dented in the one side and when dipped in paint it becomes a heart stamp... here is the result:

We also made special cards for Daddy- also taken off of pinterest. Using handprints and footprints we made lovebugs! Alivia's hands were too frustrating to try and get as she just loved the feel of the paint on her hands and kept squishing it all around, so we improvised and I love how they turned out!

The next 2 were basically done by me, Jaxon did help with the glueing and colouring but I think they're super cute anyways! We made one for Oma and Opa, Oma always says to Jaxon 'I love you to the moon and back!' So I surprisingly came up with this idea on my own, it's hard to see but the 3rd picture is our third little baby in the rocketship.

For Grandma and Grandpa we made this Owl using only heart shapes that says, 'Owl always love you'. This idea I got from my friend Michelle and thought it was so cute!

We also did some baking, using my new favourite sugar cookie recipe... these cookies are so soft and yummy without being too sweet! Jaxon helped with the mixing, I baked them all while the kids were napping and then we decorated! We have a 3 plates of cookies ready to give to Uncle Andy, Oma and Opa and Grandma and Grandpa! Here is a link to the recipe:
and here is some pictures! Now I just need some self control so I don't eat them all!

A Quick Update...

Well, it's been quite sometime since I've done any kind of update so I will start most recently and work backwards...

Much to my own dismay I have already gotten WAY behind with the photo a day challenge, and have only actually done 3 days. That being said I will not be doing the rest of the month as many things have come up and this is the last thing on my mind right now!

The weeks have been passing soo quickly I can't quite believe it, on Wednesday I will be 35 weeks along, so only 5 weeks until my due date... if this baby were to come as early as Alivia I only have about a week and a half... but we're holding out for 37 weeks, right baby? It's so exciting but also making me quite nervous for life with 3 kids, in 3 years! Jordan and I have finally decided on our baby's name- which is so exciting because he was the one who brought it up and wanted to talk about it (which he never does, for what reason I'm not actually too sure) Anyways, if we have a baby girl her name will be 'Sienna Monika Dykman' and if our baby is a boy it will be 'Hudson William Dykman'. SO exciting and it makes it yet again that much more real!

Jordan's been making amazing progress with the van, he's just about ready to put the engine back in which was stripped down to the bare minimum, I don't know much about engines but seeing how much he had it apart and all the pieces that we're on the shelves... seemed super daunting to me! Jaxon usually goes out for an hour or 2 every night and 'helps' Jordan, I think he just ends up making a mess of all the tools but it's so sweet they can have Daddy son time like that! So our fingers are crossed this baby will also wait until the van is ready.

We've been able to enjoy lots of beautiful sunny days outside at home and at Oma's house, both kids are so happy to play outside and roam around... really looking forward to summer now!

Alivia LOVES the swing, even if she's been in it for half an hour she will cry when you take her out!

I know we've been up to more than that in the past few weeks but as far as what we've done I'm not even too sure right now, here's a few pictures of my funny monkeys though!

The first time Alivia spoon fed herself, I can't believe I waited so long to let her try!

Alivia loves to sit and climb into anything box like

Jaxon just being a goof, love using any kitchen ware as headgear!

February... Photo a Day

Upon all my stumblings across the internet I came across this blog...

If you don't feel like checking it out she basically made a Photo a Day challenge where everyday in February you take a picture based on the word/ category/ title for that day. I thought it would be fun to try and give a different perspective into our lives and a fun thing to do for myself during the day! So I'm going to try my hardest to do this challenge and I will post my pictures at the end of every week! Hope you Enjoy! (this week I already missed one day...)

February 1st: Your View Today

February 2nd: Words

February 3rd: Hands

February 4th: A Stranger

Sorry no picture today!

Shell Stitch Beanie

I have a love/ hate relationship with the internet. But I don't want to talk about why I hate it, today I want to talk about why I LOVE it!

A couple months ago as I started searching out Pinterest I was finding the cutest baby hats, booties and just cute crochet items that I wanted. I decided to then teach myself via the interent how to crochet. I have done a post just a couple weeks ago about my recent projects but I now have a new project that I absolutely LOVE, and am hoping to sell in my shop VeeVee's Accessories.

I found this pattern for this Shell Stitch Beanie, it is absolutely beautiful and again I can't really believe it was easy enough for me to figure out after only a couple months. It did take one try of getting the pattern completely wrong and unraveling the whole thing, the second time was a charm however and I love the result. Here is the link to the blog where I got the pattern:

I decided to make one for Alivia (I did the 6-12 month size) since she is on the small side for 13 months and it fits perfectly.
I then decided if #3 is a girl I wanted them to have matching hats so I made one in 0-3 months, comparing it to the newborn hat I had from when Alivia was born it wouldn't fit for quite some time so I made some adjustments and now have a newborn size. I decided the hats were so beautiful they would make a wonderful addition to my shop so I made a 3-6 month size as well.

Anyways, enough talking about it here are some pictures:

And a couple of Jaxon of course, I did crochet this hat for him and he loves it, since I generally am making girly headbands and such he was excited to get something I will actually let him wear.
