How is it already August! We're keeping more than busy (and seem to be busier as the weeks go by) and summer just keeps flying by! So here's a long update from last week...
We had a fun morning at Williams Park with the Diachuk's playing on the playground and splashing in the creek. Michelle and I both forgot our cameras but sometimes that's ok, we went home mostly happy and super tired so it was a success!
We also went to the zoo with Oma, Mya, Caszie and her niece. We took a ride on the train, and saw some animals super close to the fence. Another tiring day spent in the sun.
Mya came over numerous times again to play with the kids, so one afternoon I set them up with a mud pie kitchen outside while Hudson napped. I grabbed a whole bunch of my kitchen utensils, mixing bowls and spoons and some pie plates. They must have been busy playing for over 2 hours, making pies, cakes and ice cream. A quick hose down and it was all cleaned up.
It was also Grandma's birthday last Wednesday so we got to enjoy some cake and celebrate her!
Friday afternoon we finally headed outside after having the first day of rain in over a month. The kids were a little crazy all day so I was thankful it cleared up and could go out for a bit. We went on a nature scavenger hunt around our yard that ended in blackberry picking and eating!
Saturday evening we had some friends over for a campfire and roasted hot dogs and had s'mores! The kids all played together so nice while us adults could hang out by the fire. SO thankful for such great friends!
This weekend we made huge progress on our new deck and it's really coming along! Friday we worked for a few hours in the evening, Saturday, Sunday and Monday we put in a good 10- 12 hours outside working on it. The kids basically lived outside all weekend (aside from Hudson going in for a nap) but we ate outside, played outside and only came in to pee. Saturday we poured cement with the help of Grace and my Dad, lots of measuring for posts and checking spacing. Sunday we got to work putting posts in and starting on the top 2 layers of the deck with lots of help from Bill and Grace. Monday was another full day and we got almost all the joists and beams done for the entire deck, my Dad came to help again and of course the amazing Bill and Grace spent hours helping us too! We're super excited to enjoy our new space and host some BBQ's!
Here's our progress... Yes, it's gigantic- 800 sq ft. of deck right there!
We also enjoyed some homemade blueberry ice cream... mmmmm!
