December with the Dykman's

Now this month is full of anticipation, excitement and fun! Not only is it a Christmas countdown but it is also Alivia's birthday which adds to all the excitement and craziness!
I got the kids their matching christmas jammies again this year, I wonder how many more years they'll let me do this?

The kids had a Christmas party from Jordan's union, they have a magician, some lunch and the kids all get a present from Santa of Mrs.Clause.



We did lots of Christmas baking, and made so many kinds of different cookies! Here are some of the sugar cookies the kids helped me make!


We did a couple Christmas crafts but really not as much as I was hoping to do, here we made some gift bags with potato stamped 'ornaments' on them and then some fingerprint reindeer.


We went to Grouse Mountain for the 'Peak of Christmas' but that deserves it's own post, you can read that here.

The next day we went to get our Christmas tree, we decided this year to get a live potted one and to try and re-use it for as many years as we can. We went to Arts Nursery in Port Kells in the pouring rain to find the perfect tree. After being soaked through all our layers, the kids found the biggest puddle imaginable and all ran through it many, many times! Zoey attempted to follow them and fell in the puddle instead...so that sped up the tree decision process and we were soon back home warming up with hot chocolate and cookies.

That same afternoon we went to Grandma's to do our annual Christmas baking.

Since we got a potted Christmas tree this year we had to condition it to the warmer house so we finally decorated it about a week after we got it. 

We had a Christmas party with AVS and they had crafts for the kids to do, they had cookie decorating and a movie with popcorn.

We made graham cracker houses this year, the kids all had their own to decorate and I even did one too!

Robbie came over and gave the kids their Christmas presents a couple days before Christmas, of course they had to try them out and stayed up util 10 playing Jaxon's new video game!

Hudson was playing with an old phone and when I asked him who he was talking
to he said, "I'm just texting Jesus!"

Alivia got a new kitty for her birthday that moves and meows, and Zoey was quite fascinated by it and a little confused!
