B is for Bird.
This week we worked on a new letter, Jaxon is so eager to learn and makes it so fun! Here is Jaxon practicing the letter B.

| He did these lower case b's all by himself! |
This one we were all excited for, as we see many different kinds of birds on our proerty.
We painted these bird houses together, we'll finish them off with some kind of clear coat and hang them in a tree for the little birdies to make a home next year!
We also made bird masks using card stock, coloured them added a beak and glued on some feathers!
We made little nests out of yarn and cut out some eggs to place in them.
We made Barns and added foam farm animals to the picture as well.
 |
| Alivia's Barn (she ALWAYS adds colouring to it) |
 |
| Jaxon's Barn (he's more into scissors and glueing) |
We also did some Bath tub painting- mix cornstarch, a bit of water and food colouring in a muffin tin. The kids then painted up the bath tub and when they were done they had a bath and the mess was gone! They now ask for this every single bath time! (they also ended up painting their bodies- even more fun!)
We also did some baking again- this time it was of course Banana muffins... 2 wonderful little helpers as always!
For B week we also went to the Beach- Yay for summer weather in September! Oma came with us on this beautiful sunny day, we picked up rocks and spelt letters in the sand. There was also an excavator working at the beach Jaxon and Oma went and watched it for about half an hour!
 |
| Alivia chased the Birds all the way down the beach |
We now have a zoo pass again, so we headed out with Caszie and decided to do a letter scavenger hunt. We found all the animals that started with the letter B (and A as I just thought of this) and took a picture with each one. Jaxon was super eager to then find more A's & B's in the rest of the signs. Some animals we generalized such as 'birds' and 'bears' others we found the specific name- Ankole Cattle, Addax, Aoudad, Bald eagle, Baboon, Bactrian Camel. Once we started walking around and really paying attention to the names it was amazing how many animals started with A or B.

| A for Ape |
 |
| We also found an animal called Alivia! |
 |
| B for bird |
 |
| A Bat Eared Fox called 'Babe' |
 |
| more birds |
 |
| LOVE this Baby! |
I'm so enjoying teaching Jaxon and making learning opportunities in our everyday and special adventures, he seems to really enjoy it and always asks what activity we are doing right when he wakes up. Alivia has surprised me though (I tend to still think of her as my baby) but she is always right there beside Jaxon doing every activity and of course listening to every word, the other day we were writing letters and Alivia recognized A and kept saying 'A... apple'.
